Maurice Lacroix Marks AIKON's 10th Year With Slimmer 42mm Chronograph

Maurice Lacroix has introduced a next-generation AIKON Automatic Chronograph to mark the tenth anniversary of its flagship collection, according to VAGUE(ヴァーグ). The new model reduces the case from 44mm to 42.00mm and brings the thickness to 14.00mm, the outlet reports. It is priced at ¥693,000 including tax and comes in five dial variations.

The AIKON line debuted in 2016 and has become the brand's signature offering. VAGUE(ヴァーグ) credits its popularity to the sporty character created by the six arms of the bezel, along with its versatility. Rather than resting on the existing design for the anniversary, Maurice Lacroix has used the occasion to rework the watch, the outlet reports.

Why it matters

Anniversary releases are often cosmetic exercises — a new colour here, a commemorative engraving there. This one changes the physical proportions of a collection that has defined the brand for a decade. Shrinking a chronograph from 44mm to 42mm moves it toward dressier territory, and the accompanying design changes suggest Maurice Lacroix wants the AIKON to read as more elegant without losing the bezel architecture that made it recognisable.

For buyers, the shift matters practically. A 42mm case with 14mm thickness sits differently on the wrist than a 44mm one, and the new easy-change bracelet system makes the watch easier to move between settings. VAGUE(ヴァーグ) frames the result as a more versatile and elegant proposition overall.

Dial texture, pushers and crown guards

According to VAGUE(ヴァーグ), the clous de Paris decoration on the dial has been made more three-dimensional, apparently to balance the smaller case. The outlet says this update heightens both the AIKON identity and the play of light across the face.

The pushers have also changed. Where the previous model used screw-down pushers, the new chronograph adopts rectangular pushers that VAGUE(ヴァーグ) describes as reminiscent of the earliest AIKON models. Crown guards are fitted for the first time. Together with the bezel arms, the outlet reports, the controls now form a more unified design, and the smaller case amplifies the more elegant impression.

Five variants, one movement

VAGUE(ヴァーグ) lists five versions. Three are monochrome models with dial and counters in matching colour, offered in blue, black and green. Two are panda-style pieces: a silver dial with blue counters, and a gold-tone dial with black counters.

The case, bezel and bracelet are stainless steel, with alternating hairline and polished finishes that the outlet says create a rhythm of lustre and emphasise the structural character of the design. Water resistance is rated at 10 atmospheres, or 100 metres.

Inside is Caliber ML112, with a power reserve of roughly 60 hours, per VAGUE(ヴァーグ). A domed sapphire crystal caseback shows the movement, including a rotor decorated with Côtes de Genève striping and the brand's logo — a detail the outlet notes as part of the appeal of a mechanical watch. The steel bracelet uses a polished and hairline finish and supports an easy-change system.

The tenth-anniversary AIKON chronograph is the clearest signal yet of how Maurice Lacroix intends to position the collection for its second decade. Watch for how the reduced dimensions are received on the wrist, and whether the smaller case format carries over to other AIKON references.
